I was reading some letter written in to the TODAY newspaper yesterday about the importance of househusbands. Which got me thinking. Feminism has gone one whole round, so much so that a lot of the times women have more freedom to do things they want then men. To use an often quoted example, when a woman doesn't want to get married, she's being independant. When a man doesn't want to get married, he's afraid of commitment. And it works exactly the same way with stay-at-home husbands. See, women nowadays are encouraged to have a career. In fact, when they are succesful, people applaud them for it. If the women choose to stay at home to look after their husband and kids, they are also applauded for putting their family first, caring so much and making so many sacrifices for the people they love. What about men? Men have a career because they're expected to. Even if they are not the sole breadwinner, they are expected to BE a breadwinner. When men choose to be a stay-at-home husband, they are usually looked down on by many men and women. Its like they're not 'man' enough to go out and work.

I admit that in not so developed countries like some parts of China, India and Africa, are still being abused and discriminated against. But in many developed countries, women actually have so much more freedom to do what they want than their male counterparts. *shrugs*
