About Star Wars and then Some

Man... i never thought i would have gotten on tomrrow.sg man. Especially since i've not posted for like... forever. Then i update once... and BOOM, i kena tomorrowed, and my blog has more visitors than its ever had in the past 6 months! That R0Xx0rz so much. Makes me want to update more... which i am going to do.

One of the biggest and most anticipated movies of the year is comming out soon... (though in my opinion it ought to be Batman Begins, coolest superhero ever to grace our earth), Stars Wars and the Revenge of the Sith. Its like... big. People queue up overnight(overweek,overmonth,overyear) to be among the first ever to see the film. Seriously, i never got that... I mean, as much i as i love my favourite movie, which happens to be the BEST MOVIE IN THE WHOLE WORLD AND UNIVERSE AND OMNIVERSE AND WHATEVEROTHERVERSE, A Walk to Remember, which had the best plot ever conceived by the human mind and the best actress ever to act in it(so i'm a Mandy Moore fan... so sue me), i would never queue overnight for it. Yes, its a chick flick. Yes, i like chick flicks. I happen to have dreams about romance and stuff, finding me a perfect and beautiful girlfriend, getting married, etc etc... I happen to read romance novels(the ones without the weird sex in the river with the forests burning and a mountain lion watching from the sidelines, owls flying overhead in a blue sky with a raincloud in the distance, but the ones which focus on the romance, not the sex).

But hey, people are that crazy over it and are willing to do it. But hey, to each his own. There are things i'd queue overnight for... like maybe.. uh... ok, there's nothing i'd queue overnight for. I take that back. Maybe if i would get to see Natalie Portman live in a bikini i may consider...

Which happens to be related to Star Wars, as Natalie Portman DOES happen to star as Padme(Padme? what kind of name is Padme? why not Tamponme? i hear those are more popular nowadays, though i could never in my wildest dreams stick something up anything of mine. But then again, i am a guy, so what'd i know?). Those that know me know that i happen to like girls who being with the letter K. See, i happen to believe that the 4 most beautiful women in the world happen to have their names starting with K. They are, in no particular order, Keira Knightly, Kirsten Dunst, Kristin Kreuk and another girl who's name i shall not mention. Natalie Portman, all of a sudden, has overtaken these other girls to second in my list of most beautiful women in the world. Second only to... i'll leave that to you to guess. I would watch Star Wars Episode III solely to see Natalie Portman in her blue dress.

See, i'm not that big a fan of Star Wars. Never have been. I didn't even watch episodes IV-VI until this year. I've watched episode I(which was all right. contrary to everyone else, i absolutely LOVED Jar Jar Binks. I thought he was the funniest thing ever.) I'm yet to watch Episode II, though i would soon because Natalie Portman is in it. Most of my friends are big fans of Star Wars... i'm not. Sure its a good movie, but A Walk to Remember is so much better.

And nowadays, everywhere you look, there's a special feature on Star Wars and its impact on the world. And its true. Everyone knows about Star Wars. The Force has become part of our vocabulary. Star Wars is in The New Paper. Its in the Straits Times. In 8 Days. Everywhere i look, there it is staring at me in the face. So i decided... you know, maybe its time to check out a little bit more about this Star Wars thing and try to understand it a little bit better....

The Force
What is The Force anyway? How does it work? Are they all telepaths with telekenetic powers or what? What can it do anyway, and what can't it do? So i check up the net for a little bit of research.... And i got plenty of stuff, half of which i didn't understand. But what i did get was its some kind of energy thingie which is in all forms of life. The more midi-chlorians that are in a being's cells, the more Force he/she/it has to control. What in the world are midi-chlorians? It sounds like some kind of bug to me... like maybe the amount of force you have depends on how many of these bugs exist in your body. Does that mean if i transfer blood from a jedi to myself i'll get more of these bugs and become more power?

Lightsaber
So how does this glorified torchlight work? Why does the light stop halfway instead of going all the way to the sky and stabbing the moon? After a bit of research, i learn that its some kind of crystal thingies that are aligned by the jedi using the force and concentrate some kind of weird energy into the torchlight using a power cell. The jedi use various crystals which give various colours to the lightsabers, and the sith use synthetic crystals for theirs, which result in their red colour blade. I wonder though... how come only mace windu gets to use a purple one then? not very fair, is it... Also, about the power cell... if i were to use a more powerful power cell, like say, instead of using triple A batteries i use a double A battery... would the blade be longer? Image that... a blade that's 5 meters long... it wouldn't matter the weight because light has no weight. He'll have a sword bigger than Cloud's... and rule the world.

Spaceships
There are lots of weird looking spaceships that make no sense... A-wings look quite stupid to me. But B wings take the cake. Someone please tell me how a ship of that design can actually be useful please... its long. for a reason i know not. it doesn't look very agile. why can't it be a normal ship with normal wings?
