watched Survivor All-Stars finale and reunion yesterday. It was interesting season of Survivor, i must say. Having the most famous, well-liked and notorious people from all the past Survivors was a great idea, thus ending up with one of the highest ratings for Survivor in recent years. Amber won. Good job to Amber for winning, sticking with Rob(he literally saved her from being voted out once, then he betrayed the people who helped keep Amber in the game). Good job to Rob for marrying the winner of Survivor, thus making the million bucks his too.

But what was the highlight of the reunion for me was when Jerri walked out in the middle of the show. She had just given what i would like to call the Gladiator speech. The whole "Does this entertain you?" thing. She was griping about how this is a game, and how people are getting hurt just to entertain you all. The crowd booed her, and she left, hurt and bitter.

I will say this. It is a game, and it is like the ancient Colloseum(how do you spell that?), where people fought against people for the sake of the entertainment of the public. Only now, instead of fighting with weapons to kill, they're fighting with the worst weapon of all : the tongue. Once again, it's all for the entertainment of the public.

Is Survivor wrong? I won't say that. Richard Hatch(the original Snake and winner of Survivor 1) said this when he left : "I've been Bamboozeled! And i never saw it comming." He got voted out, betrayed badly, but he was still happy. At the Survivor Reunion, he said its a game, you have to have thick skin and not take it to heart. Lex got betrayed and voted out, but he was bitter at Rob, and said that the relationship was gone, even though they were best friends before the show.

Richard Hatch said it best. Its a game, and no one forced you to participate. If you participate, you should take it for what it is, a game to win a million dollars. Everyone went into the game. When Jerri played the game, she too betrayed many people, and singlehandedly orchestrated the voting out of someone by outright lying about the person, who had been very nice to her. Thus, she was badly hated by the general public even before she participated in Survivor All-Stars. She knew that.

You make a choice on how you play the game, and how you come out of it. Rob chose to play the game like the backstabbing jerk that he wanted to be, and he came out of it a winner. Rupert chose to play the game without lying or backstabbing, and even though he didn't win, he came out of it a stonger and happier person. Tom was angry that he got betrayed, but after the game was over, he left his emotions with the game and was happy with Rob. Richard Hatch tried to play around with people's minds again, and it worked to a certain extent, but he was still all right when he got voted out. Lex chose to stay bitter after the game was over, stay angry. Jerri chose be bitter about the whole issue.

All in all, everything's a choice. In life, we either choose to let things go and be happy, or keep grudges and stay bitter. I would like to say that I choose to be happy.
