Ashamed of Singaporeans
The problem with working shift work is that blogging news always comes late. I wanted to blog about two things that make me ashamed of some of us Singaporeans. Its old news, but considering i had a busy sunday, was on duty on monday, and super tired after duty on tuesday, its comming in late. But better late than never, eh?
Anyway, for those of you who don't read the Newpaper, here are two big things that happened :
Hitler the Hero
Yes, sad but true. These kids actually hold Hitler up as a hero. Quotes, as you read from the article, are :
The group leader, a tanned and bespectacled 15-year-old girl, said: 'We like him.
'He led Germany and was very good, although he was evil.
'Don't you think he's very handsome?
'He started World War II, but it's okay, he's still our hero,' she added.
When asked if she felt embarrassed printing such a big picture of Hitler, she said: 'Not at all.'
'Of course he was cruel, but there was this other side of him.
'He was very determined in fighting and invading the other countries.
'He was very decisive.'
'It's difficult to think up cheers so I suggested Hitler because I had learnt about him in Sec 2.
'His name is short and therefore easy to remember.
'It also symbolises strength and loyalty, as people were very loyal to him.'
One student, who's taking history as an O-level subject, said that she had raised objections over choosing Hitler.
'I knew he was evil, but if the group wanted his name purely for leadership qualities, then I was okay with it.'
One student said: 'We substituted the group name into original cheers so before eating, we would shout things like 'Hitler Hitler is the best!'.'
When i read the article, i was shocked. Totally shocked. To the bone. These... kids... actually think that Hitler is an example of a good leader?
"Sure he's evil, but he was a good leader, so we admire him, and think he's great" is what they seem to be saying. of Hitler. Super war criminal and murderer. Of all the people to choose... they choose Hitler. And they even can imitate the Heil Hitler salute! Have these kids no sensitivity? Do they even think properly? I admit that the man was a charismatic leader who managed to unite Germany to war against the world, to some success. But to use him as an example of leadership? Do these kids REALLY want to be like hitler? They want to focus on his leadership. A leadership of leading a country to commit super duper cruelty. Like leadership and what he did can be seperated.
Man, if there were any jews nearby, they'd be beaten, and they'd deserve it, too!
"Sure he's evil, but he's a good leader. We admire him. Hitler Hitler he's the best"
Stupid kids... grrrr.... actually admiring Hitler... man.. ought to be smacked, the lot of them... I'm ashamed of them.
Part two of what makes me ashamed of some Singaporeans
$40,000 FIX-UP after HIV outcry
So there was a gay teacher in the school. So he was arrested for a sexual offence, and it came to light of his homosexuality. The school gave him a warning, after it was discovered that it was not a sexual offence, but a consensual act, and his partner only accused him after he reported his partner to the police for robbery. So he didn't even commit a sexual offence. He is NOT HIV positive.
Now, i do not condone homosexual behavior, i do think its not right. I don't have a phobia of them, either. If you're gay, that's your decision. I woudn't do it, but i'm not going to condemn you for it.
HOWEVER... when these... parents... discover that the man is gay, guess what they did? Yes, according to the article, they forced the school to take some drastic measures. The school fired him, yes, supossedly because he did not follow regulations, but i believe its bull. They fired him because of what the parents demanded. Some pulled their children out of the school. Others insisted on the teacher never being in the same room as their children. If that's not requesting for a firing, i don't know what is.
So the school fired the teacher. All's fine and dandy, right? Hoo-boy. No way. Not in Singapore. The parents insisted that anything and everything that the teacher touched had to be thrown away. The walls needed to be repainted. Chairs he sat on thrown away. Toilet seats replaced. Toys dumped. Utensils, ovens, cuboards... all into the trash.
So huge renovations, costing a total of 40k, were carried out to pacify these... parents.
And what does one have to say about it?
A parent, who only wanted to be known as Mrs Ong, 46, admitted she was being kiasu.
Her 8-year-old son is dyslexic. She said: 'In this day and age of mutating viruses, well, I am just a mum who is concerned for my child. I am a kiasu mother.
Yes.... prevention is better than cure. These parents are only concerned for their kids. Yes, yes. Its not enough, i guess, for them. Using the same logic, if we're going to throw away the things he's touched... Burn down the whole school, i say. Burn all the teachers, including the principle. I mean... seriously, they probably even touched the gay teacher! Man, what if anyone who has ever stepped into the building has AIDS because they may have been in the same room as the man! Burn them all! Burn the man's family... seriously, he may have spread AIDS to them by breathing the same air! How about we destroy the MRT line and build a new one while we're at it... He may have actually taken a train? What about buses? Replace them all! Who knows which bus he took! Burn his whole HDB block! Demolish it, for it has been contaminated! I don't think its enough yet... He's been all over Singapore... Why don't we just bomb the whole island so that the HIV virus is contained, hmm???

they are just stupid kids who think they know everything. that's what kids are. they act like they so smart. they believe in their onmiscience... their immortality... and they think they know so freaking much!
argh.
this is why i will never have children. cuz they go through a phase called STUPIDITY.
then the unlucky ones grow up to become stooopid homophobic adults.
bah.
I hate singapore....
hitler... a charismatic leader for the wrong cause. a very sharp strategist, moving from being speaker in a small pub/club to the leader of a country. not that i condone what he did or anything.
HIV cannot be passed by physical contact only, there must be blood (and certain bodily fluids) transfer. Being an enveloped virus, HIV loses structural integrity soon after leaving the body by drying out.
The only thing that need to be securely destroyed should be syringes, sex toys and items that may have come into contact with blood or certain bodily fluids.
Even washing stuff with detergent and/or ethanol should quite effectively destroy any HIV that may be there... in fact, most bacteria & viruses...
wow...... i dunno what just tagged but it sure sounds like a dictionary... or a thesaurus.... or a tyrannosaurus, whatever
Heil Hitler! hahaha
