Yesterday, in the forum pages, there's someone complaining about the smses on American Idol and how it shows Singaporeans in a bad light. And i agree, many of the smses are absolutely horrible. But one thing i don't agree with. She's complaining on the bad english, and how it teaching children bad english. That we should not be showing ourselves as a country that is unable to use good english. Its SMS!!! Who bothers to use proper english in an SMS??? it so troublesome. She cites examples as using 4 for for and stuff. Standard SMS language. What's up with that? Nobody care about using proper english in smses. well... almost nobody. I usually spell out my smses properly.

Some minister in Malaysia opened his big mouth again.

"If you cannot fight rape, better lie down and enjoy it." Mr Roselan Juhar said.

Needless to say, a whole bunch of women were outraged. His response? He said he was quoting the Chinese sage, Confucius, and claimed it was misconstued or misinterpreted.

"I did apologise for the remark. It could be in bad taste but i did not mean for it to sound like that." He later said.

Wow... Confucius said something like that??? I never knew. And i also didn't know that there was a way to say that without it being in bad taste..
