After following the Rugby World Cup, reading about Rugby in the news, i have come to the same conclusion as a columnist in STREATS. Rugby is the Real Man's Games. Soccer is for sissies. Why? First, lets compare the Star, and most famous member of the England Soccer Team, David Beckham, to the Star, and most famous member of the England Rugby Team, Jonny Wilkinson.
Now, look at Beckham's scrawny legs, then Jonny's tree trunks. Beckhams tiny torso compared to Jonny's musclar one. Not convinced? how about Australia's most popular player, Harry Kewell, as compared to Australia's rugby star, Phil Waugh.
Now, which of these two would you rather not meet in an alley? When a rugby star goes down after being tackled, he dusts himself and gets up. This after being thrown to the ground rather violently. When a soccer star goes down, he stays on the ground writhing in 'pain' for a free kick. During the Rugby World Cup a player got tackled, and blood was comming out of his nose non-stop. he just walked off the pitch, got some medical attention, and ran back on. soccer? nah, never.
Rugby is more fast paced, more interesting, more exciting. Soccer you have to see the ball being slowly kicked back and forth for most of the game. In Rugby, a regular scoreline is maybe 15-20. In soccer, its usually 2-1. The goals come very slowly.
Soccer is a sissy sport, everyone should just go watch rugby.
Birmingham City is playing Manchester United this saturday night. Can't wait for that match. Soccer rules.
